A Weekend In Orlando

I always love going back to my hometown of Orlando, FL. Last weekend, I got to stay a few days with #VisitOrlando representing 95.5 WPLJ. The trip was a blast but non-stop! I haven't lived in Florida since January of 2013 and so much has changed. I grew up
going to the Orlando theme parks and to see how they've changed since the last time I've visited is pretty wild. Here's a break out of the trip day-by-day and a ton of photos you can check out. If you have any questions about the trip feel free to email me melony.torres@cumulus.com

Saturday - I left work at 3am and took a 6am flight on no sleep down to Florida. We landed and went straight to the hotel where my mom met me so we could get breakfast. She also took me to the Prime Outlets, which is always an essential when visiting Orlando! Later in the afternoon my 3 best friends came to the pool at the Hilton Bonnet Creek and we relaxed in a cabana for most of the day. For dinner, we headed out to Pointe Orlando where we got food at a delicious Cuban Restaurant called Cuba Libre.

Sunday - We were out the door by 7:45a and headed to Disney's Hollywood Studios. We got to enter the park before it opened which was pretty neat. First on the agenda was heading to A Galaxy Far Far Away, which is the new Star Wars area at Hollywood Studios. It's pretty amazing what they've done to recreate so much from the saga. We rode their newest Star Tours ride and got to meet some of the characters (Chewbacca & Kylo Ren), which you'll see in the photos above. The Kylo Ren meet and greet was definitely a highlight of the trip! He plays the character so well it's almost frightening. Before leaving we also went on their Toy Story ride which was a fun game type attraction. We spent the afternoon at Seaworld where we got to see their new manatee rehabilitation center and went on a backstage tour of where they take care of the animals. We ended the day by having Dinner with Shamu and literally the killer whales are right beside you for this. If you ever go to Seaworld it is definitely a must even though the food is so-so lol.

Monday - We made our way to Universal Orlando, starting our adventure at the Universal Studios park and road the Minions ride and Transformers before heading over to Diagon Alley, which is the new area added to the world of Harry Potter. If you're a Potter fan this is a definite must see in Orlando. They have done the best job of recreating Diagon Alley, it was pretty amazing. After riding the newest ride Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringott's Bank we jumped on the Hogwarts Express over to Islands of Adventure. This particular park is home of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Hogsmeade. They have a fabulous ride here too called Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and a Dragon Challenge. You can also purchase the famous butterbeer which is definitely something you have to do! It's pretty tasty... just think cream soda.

Tuesday - This was a pretty low key day but one of my favorites because it was all about the food. For lunch we headed out to Zeta Bar in our hotel and attempted to make sushi. This was a really cool and unique experience. It was fun having the sushi chefs there showing us every step needed to make the perfect sushi roll and let me tell you it's not easy! Fast forward to dinner... I'm pretty sure I had the best meal I've ever had in my life on Tuesday night at the Taste of Bonnet Creek in the Waldorf Astoria! It was a tasting of everything that the restaurants in our hotel have to offer. We had a 7 course meal that included everything from delicious bread, gnocchi, pork, fish, potatoes and the most amazing dessert I've ever had. Words don't do this meal justice... it's all about the photos above.

I love my hometown but happy to be back in my new home on NYC :) hope you enjoyed reading. I'm trying to get better at this whole blogging thing.
